Hey Beauties!
It may still be hot outside (it's nearly 100 degrees here!) but mainstream fall collections are already releasing! I thought it would be fun to compare some newly released (or soon-to-be released) fall collection colors from mainstream brands against some of our favorite BLUSH Lacquers nail polishes. This edition features OPI's Big Zodiac Energy Fall 2023 collection.
*Short disclaimer, I do not own any of the OPI polishes and cannot compare them directly, I'm only going off of images.
OPI The Leo-nly One vs. BLUSH Lacquers 24k Coast
OPI The Leo-nly One is described as a gold pearl. While I wouldn't really classify any of our finishes as "pearl", we do have some great metallics! I thought that
24k Coast would be the best match with it's liquid yellow gold color and metallic finish. Even better, I love to wear our metallic nail polishes topped with our
Matterial Girl Matte Top Coat for a
brushed metal finish that is perfect for fall!
OPI Gemini And I vs. BLUSH Lacquers Candy Coated
OPI Gemini And I is described as a soft white shimmer nail polish. I've seen a few different photos of this besides the bottle shot shown above and it does seem to have a bit of a pearlescent finish, like many of the nail polishes in this collection. I picked
Candy Coated to compare to Gemini and I because this is a clear base topper with a shimmer that shifts from white to blue and violet. While Gemini and I seems to be more opaque, I think wearing Candy Coated over
Frosted Sugar Cookie would give you a similar look (and create a perfect
Glazed Donut mani!).
OPI Pisces The Future vs. BLUSH Lacquers Confetti Countdown
OPI Pisces The Future is described as a blue pearl nail polish. The photos I've seen seem to make it look like there might be a bit of a pink shimmer, but I'm not sure that that is true. Either way, I think
Confetti Countdown is a great alternative! The base colors are similar, but the finishes are different. As stated above, Pisces The Future is a pearl finish, but Confetti Countdown is filled with a flurry of holographic and iridescent flakies giving it a unique and transformational look.
OPI #Virgoals vs. BLUSH Lacquers Heart's Desire
This was a difficult one. OPI #Virgoals is described as a bronze pearl nail polish. A lot of the photos seem to imply there is a hint of a green shimmer or maybe some type of sparkle, but I can't be for certain. I didn't really feel that any of our polishes totally dupe this one, but I did love
Heart's Desire as an alternative. The base color is darker, deeper and more red than #Virgoals, but Heart's Desire is filled with these lovely bronze and gold crushed metallic flakes that really give it a wow factor.
OPI Feelin' Capricorn-y vs. BLUSH Lacquers Waves of Glass
OPI Feelin' Capricorn-y is described as a sage green shimmer nail polish. I don't really get that from the pictures. To me, it feels cooler toned than what I think of as a sage green, so going off of photos alone, I picked
Waves of Glass. Waves of Glass is a stunning holographic instead of a shimmer like Feelin' Capricorn-y. My second choice was
Green With Envy, which is also a shimmer, but I felt that the shade of green was warmer than Feelin' Capricorn-y. And if you're really just looking for a nice sage green, you have to try
Sage Garland.
OPI Taurus-t Me vs. BLUSH Lacquers Carnival Glass
OPI Taurus-t Me is described as a mint green shimmer. For the BLUSH comparison, I picked
Carnival Glass, a lovely seafoam green with a pink to gold shifting shimmer reminiscent of sea glass. While I've not seen Taurus-t Me in person, I would guess that Carnival Glass is a brighter less minty version. I also contemplated picking
Eucalyptus Mint, if you're looking for a lovely cheery green creme with no shimmer or sparkle.
OPI Kiss My Aries vs. BLUSH Lacquers Stop In the Name of Love
OPI Kiss My Aries is described as a fiery red shimmer nail polish. I chose
Stop In The Name Of Love as an alternative for it's vibrant red base and shifting teal-blue-purple shimmer.
Dock Of The Bay is a close second for similarities in base color, but uses crushed gold metallic flakes instead of a shimmer.
OPI Big Sagittarius Energy vs. BLUSH Lacquers Tartan Rose
OPI Big Sagittarius Energy is described as a burgundy pearl nail polish. Burgundy and maroon colored nail polishes are some of my favorites! For this, I just had to go with
Tartan Rose, which is easily one of my favorite nail polishes that I've created. It's deep burgundy base is accented with gold metallic crushed flakes that add both dimension and beauty to this nail polish!
OPI Feelin' Libra-ted vs. BLUSH Lacquers Sweet Dreams
OPI Feelin' Libra-ted is described as a shimmery violet nail polish. This one, again was a bit difficult to choose. The photos, in my opinion, make it look more fuchsia with maybe a blue-ish shimmer. The closest comparison I found with BLUSH is
Sweet Dreams, a majestic royal purple with a dazzling pink shimmer and accents of color shifting multi-chrome flakes. It is a showstopper of a nail polish, for sure!
OPI Aquarius Renegade vs. BLUSH Lacquers Evening Rose
OPI Aquarius Renegade is described as a navy blue pearl. By the bottle photos, I feel like
Evening Rose is a more similar shade, however, if I'm going more by the description of a navy blue nail polish, I'd pick
Something Blue or
Regatta. I consider Evening Rose to be more of a sapphire than a navy and it's got the prettiest rose gold metallic flakes that really light it up.
OPI Scorpio Seduction vs. BLUSH Lacquers Skipper
OPI Scorpio Seduction is described as a cobalt shimmer nail polish. By the bottle photos, I'd say
Skipper is a dead ringer for that bold blue base color. Skipper doesn't have a shimmer and is instead filled with luscious gold metallic flakes.
OPI I Cancer-tainly shine vs. BLUSH Lacquers The Nutcracker Prince
OPI I Cancer-tainly Shine is described as a holographic silver nail polish. My first instinct upon seeing photos of this nail polish was The Nutcracker Prince which is a true silver holographic nail polish that also has added metallic silver flakes. However, I think that Just Cruising would also make a good dupe if you want a more purely holographic nail polish. And if you're just wanting a holographic topper that can transform any plain old nail polish into a holographic, you must try Glass Slipper.
